Hey there, I'm still trying to figure this out. Every time I set "View Distance" to anything other than "low," my FPS drops a lot. Spoiler: Low settings keep things stable. With Ultra High, CPU stays around 30% and GPU doesn't exceed 70%. On PC specs—i7 920, 12GB DDR3 RAM, GTX 1060 with 3GB—playing in crowded scenes gives 10–30 FPS. At "Ultra High" with "Low," I see around 50–60 FPS. The simple fix is to switch to "Low," but it feels like a compromise.

You're putting extra strain on your CPU, especially with just 3 GB of VRAM. Since you have a 4 GB card, your performance is still decent compared to what you're seeing. I believe a more powerful GPU would help if you want better results, but I'm not an expert and might be mistaken.

It worked the same on your GTX 760, and your VRAM usage remains near 1GB.

yeah, 760 is a couple years old, and that's only 1 more gig of vram, so like i said, i could be wrong, but im pretty sure. If there is a concern about needing a motherboard powered gpu the best you can get is a 1050 Ti, which of course is 4gb

I've been away from that game for a while. From what I gather, the view distance affects tanking in that FPS title. I wonder if you're using PhysX? If yes, consider dedicating a card for PhysX or lowering its settings. I recall the game causing my original Titan problems back then. Apparently, the best way to play it fully was with one game card and a second dedicated PhysX card with tweaks in Nvidia Inspector. Another method I remember is disabling Vsync and setting a FPS cap in the game.

It seems you're referring to using an additional GPU, possibly a 760. You mentioned achieving around 40 FPS with screenshots taken at "Ultra High" settings.

Ensure your GPU has PhysX support. You might want to test the 760 settings. Have you adjusted the view distance to maximum?

I also received a 9500gt, but I'm worried it might not work well. I tried it and got around 43-50 FPS (my current limit is 50). EDIT: with a 60 lock it's about 45-52 FPS.

I tested it now and achieved roughly 38 FPS on that area with PhysX enabled at "High" and View Distance set to "Ultra High." Adjusting PhysX didn’t show any clear improvement. When I reset View Distance to "High" again, it improved slightly to about 42. I’m unlikely to use the 760 as a dedicated PhysX card. It’s unclear how much PhysX actually affects Borderlands 2, and probably better GPUs will be available without it.

Your processor is quite outdated. Even with an i5 6600, it didn’t reach its full potential. Using an i7 6700 has improved performance a bit.
