Boot issue after BIOS upgrade remains unresolved.
Boot issue after BIOS upgrade remains unresolved.
Hello there! I'm new here so I hope I posted this in the right forum. I have some understanding of putting pcs together but such a thing has never happened and not in this way. I am at my wit's end. My PC specs: Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming rev. 1.0 GTX 1660 ti Ryzen 5 5600 (X i think) 2x8GB G.Skill 3000Mhz 450 W Bitfenix PSU Samsung EVO SSD 1TB Seagate 2TB HDD What I did: I wanted to update my BIOS to the latest version. I was already at F63 so i am passed the f31 to 40 issues. Been using this CPU for 2 years no problem. So I dowloaded the F64e. I noticed the F63 is no longer listed, which is strange. I put F64e on a usb stick, which was already FAT 32, so I thought I wont reformat if it works. Went to Boot Menu. I did Q Flash, saw the file and it updated, then rebooted by itself. The Issue: After the reboot, i am stuck on Boot screen with the logo of Aorus and "F12 for Boot Menu, Del for Q-flash." Etc. From here I am unable to do anything. My keyboard is unresponsive. I tried other ports, same thing. What I tried: - plugging keyboard to other usb 2.0 ports - reset CMOS by removal. - replug RAM, single stick also. Nothing changed. I watched a Jayztwocents video on a similar issue after bios update. Tirned out, the bios update messed up the gpu driver or it could not verify the hardware. Since the cpu had a built in gpu, that worked. This made me think, it must be the gpu, since the motherboard vga light is on constantly and red. Even if i unplug and replug the GPU. Or could be the bios reverted somehow to before F60 and i cant boot due to the support for 5600 cpu needing F60 or above. If my keyboard would work, I could see if I can enter the bios. Im out of ideas at this point. Any help would be appreciated!
Repaired the issue by resetting the entire motherboard, not just the two CMOS pins. Take everything out of the PC and disconnect the power supply. Press the power reset button again to clear any residual power. Remove the BIOS battery and let it sit for a short period. Then secure the CMOS pins with a screwdriver for about 20 seconds using a tool, allowing 5-10 minutes before reinserting the battery. Be patient—acting quickly may prevent success. Remember to proceed slowly.
Hey there, I see you're facing the same problem. If anyone has any ideas or solutions, feel free to share. I've checked all the options you mentioned, and it seems like the mainboard might be damaged beyond repair.
From Gigabyte support: Hello customer, thank you for reaching out to GIGABYTE. We’re here to assist with your technical question. Performing an AMD Full Reset: Try resetting the motherboard completely. Please note this will reset all BIOS settings back to defaults. Disconnect the power supply and wait 30 seconds. Remove the CMOS battery from the battery compartment. Apply a short circuit to the contacts for approximately 2 seconds. Clear the short. Reinsert the CMOS battery. Enable the PSU switch. For the Clear CMOS jumper, short the two pins for about 10 seconds. Disconnect the short. Restart the system and enter BIOS setup. If you have custom BIOS configurations, adjust accordingly.
