Hey there, I upgraded my PC from Intel to AMD today. The problem is it won’t boot properly. I thought it was the RAM issue, but it seems the memory sticks are working fine on my old system. My previous setup had Intel i5 8400 Msi, B360 Pro, 2400 RAM, Crucial 2666, 8 GB, GTX 1060, and a 1 TB SSD. Now I’m using AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Msi A320M Pro, and everything matches.

I’ve been using different memory brands before, but the new RAM from Crucial isn’t working. On my old machine I matched it to 2666 MHz and it booted, and even when I changed it to single channel only the 2400 MHz GSKILL worked. But on my old rig I also increased it to match the speed, and it functioned. I’ve tried putting both sticks in single channel, but only the 2400 MHz GSKILL RAM did that.

Now I’m really puzzled. Could it be the AMD CPU isn’t supporting the 2666 MHz RAM? I’m considering a higher speed kit, maybe 3200 MHz 8x8. Do you think this is what’s going on? I’m on a tight budget and might have to return the CPU and board. I only have a week to try some fixes before deciding.

It seems the motherboard doesn<|pad|> to not accept RAM, but it does allow a 2400 MHz chip to be overclocked up to 2666 MHz. Comparing other boards such as the ASROCK B550M shows specifications indicating support for up to 3200 MHz without overclocking, with higher speeds needing OC profiles in BIOS from slower RAM. The recommended memory options for this board are listed here.

This explanation covers many important points. I have some questions, so I ordered a RAM module rated for 3200 MHz from Crucial. I’ll include a screenshot below to help confirm if it meets my expectations based on what you’ve described.
