Hey! You're about to start your Mac bootcamp—great choice! Just remember, there are some risks involved like data loss or system instability if not done properly. Make sure you have a backup of important files before proceeding. To do it, you'll need to download a Windows ISO for macOS, install it on a USB drive, and then follow the setup steps carefully. Keep an eye on your storage space and ensure everything is backed up. Good luck!

Whenever you are doing anything that involves re-partitioning or re-allocating disk space, you run the risk of total data loss (unlikely but something to keep in mind) I always recommend backing up your important data before going forward. Now that you've backed up important data, read on. What you will need is a windows 10 ISO, which you can download from Microsoft no problem, but you may need a PC to do so. Once you have a usb key formatted with windows 10 (there are tons of guides on this forum on how to do that) fire up boot camp assistant on the mac (search for bootcamp in spotlight) and just follow the instructions. Apple has made it very easy to do this. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that you will need to purchase a windows 10 license if you want to be able to activate windows. Without the license, you can use it but some things will not work and you will be bugged to activate it. Any more questions, ask away friend!

You might need to purchase a Windows 10 ISO. I heard the boot camp can handle downloading it for you. I’ll follow your suggestion about setting up your Mac. Thanks!

You don't purchase the ISO file; you can simply download and install it directly from Microsoft. A license key is required to enable its use. You can operate it without activation, but you may eventually be prompted to buy it, and certain features might not function until you do so (for example, changing wallpaper or a few other settings).

I run Bootcamp on my MacBook Pro and here’s what you need: a disc image of a Windows installation, like an ISO file. You can get one from Microsoft. A license key is required to activate Windows, for clear reasons. You’ll also need a USB drive that’s at least 16GB. The Bootcamp assistant will use the Windows ISO to build an installation USB. Setting up Bootcamp is much simpler than making partitions or dual-booting in Windows. However, there’s a tiny risk of accidental damage to the Bootcamp partition, though recovery is straightforward.
