!Tech Specifications!
Sapphire tri x 290
AMD Fx8350 w/ H80GTi Corsair closed loop watercooler
Corsair xms3 2x4 gb 1600mhz
Gigabyte 990fxa ud3
Rosewill Photon 650/800 (wattage not remembered) 80 plus PSU
I’m trying to enhance my old PC’s performance through software tweaks, Windows adjustments, or BIOS settings/overclocking.
I’m uncertain where to begin and am currently juggling multiple tasks, so I don’t have the budget for buying new hardware right now—I’d rather find a quick performance lift instead.
Power consumption or fan speeds aren’t my main concerns; I’m focused on getting better frame rates. Even small improvements would be welcome.
My primary game is Escape From Tarkov, and my Radeon reports around 55.7 FPS.
The game becomes noticeably unstable when playing with others, and sometimes frames freeze completely before recovering.
I’m running at 1080p on an Acer S230HL LCD 23" monitor with a 5ms refresh rate. I appreciate any advice you can offer.
I assembled this system based on recommendations from the community when I was around 16 now, and I’m 23. I still believe in your guidance.
Thanks for taking the time,
Corey S.

You're clearly struggling with your CPU performance, and I'm pretty sure it's holding you back. Overclocking won't make much difference either. A basic 1st generation Ryzen would easily outperform that FX, even if you push it to its limits. If budget is a concern, consider checking the used market for a 4th generation i7 or E3 1230v3, or something better. At the very least, you could repurpose your existing RAM. Otherwise, I suggest looking at an alternative option.

Overclocking the CPU might offer some improvement, though it's likely not very noticeable. The FX8350 isn't the latest processor for recent titles, and your GPU is handling things well, which explains the good frame rates. Your CPU, however, is limiting your minimum performance.
