Hello everyone, I found a solid offer on the Asrock B450M Pro4-F. However, regarding RAM, the most affordable option I could find is the G.Skill Ripjaws V 3600 MHz CL16 (currently back in stock at the same price). But the motherboard RAM is listed as 3200 MHz only. Would changing the voltage affect my setup? I’m worried it might downclock to 3200 MHz if it runs at 3600 MHz. Also, the motherboard note mentions checking the AMD non-XMP memory frequency table. Should I enable XMP to make it run at 3600 MHz? Thanks! Edit: CPU will be R3 3300X, GPU will be Galax GTX 1660 Super with one-click OC.
It will function properly. Activate the BIOS XMP setting and upgrade your BIOS to the newest release, and you should be fine.
The 3300X is officially limited to 3200, though it might still work at 3600 based on the chip selection. My 3600 struggles to reach 3600 without losing the clock speed, while my other unit handles it. The gap between 3200 and 3600 isn’t huge, but I usually stick to 3200 on Zen2.
The board doesn’t require an older CPU model to update the BIOS. You can start with any CPU you have.
The information isn't confirmed on the asrock website, meaning it might require a BIOS update for a Ryzen 2000 CPU before use.
According to Bios Rev. P1.40, you might need to upgrade the BIOS to match a newer Ryzen chip before using it. I can't confirm which BIOS versions are compatible with that board. I don’t know about other manufacturers, but ASUS marks their Ryzen 3000 compatible boards with a badge.
