Hello! I’m just starting out with forums and wanted to let you know about my situation. I recently assembled a PC using a mix of older and newer parts. Both the GPU and CPU have Hardline tubing installed. After booting, it goes through POST but then becomes unresponsive. It’s tricky to figure out which component is faulty because everything is watercooled with these hardlines, making assembly and disassembly difficult. I’m hoping someone can help me troubleshoot this.

Thanks in advance for your time!
Notes: Lights are on, fans spin and speed changes during POST, then drop to about 20% and stay there. The pump spins too, going from 100% to a low speed. When Ubuntu tries to boot, it shows an error message. I’ve tried Windows 11 (x64) before the build, but it worked then. I installed Ubuntu on three different SSDs, but it only works with the “Ubuntu (Safe graphics)” option. In Ubuntu’s “Try” mode it functions properly. I’m still connected to the GPU. I checked all cables and made sure they were seated correctly, used different SATA ports for the SSDs, reset the CMOS RAM, and changed the BIOS settings. No cables were misplaced. The hardware itself seems fine before the rebuild, except for some performance issues in BG3.

Hardware: Lian Li Q58 (White), Gigabyte AORUS B550I AX V1.2, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12 cores, ASUS EKWB RTX3070, G.Skill Tident Z NEO RAM, Corsair SF750 PSU, Samsung SSDs.

Checked another connection method for the display. Verified if the GPU functions on a different setup. Looked up the latest GPU BIOS details.

Uncertain about why your whole clipboard appears instead of the most recent copy, but it looks okay—probably not a memory problem.

Just to confirm: Should I connect the HDMI to the GPU? Right now, I have two display ports linked to it. The GPU functioned properly before the rebuild. However, I can't test it on another system yet. I haven’t updated the latest VBIOS either—I’ll check that as soon as possible.

Tested with the HDMI cable as before. No difference noticed. Discovered a riser cable and an older ASUS GTX1050; plan to try them out. Will share updates once installed and tested.

It started up properly using the GTX1050 GPU and an extra riser card. Now I’m trying to confirm if it’s the riser card or the GPU itself causing the issue. Can you verify if there’s a way to preserve the RTX3070? It appears the system displays video during posting and until startup. EDIT: From RTS3070 to GTS1050 the changes are: the 1050 riser cable no longer draws extra power from the PSU and is only powered via the PCI-e port. Edited February 12, 2024 by Engibrrr Added another observation that differs from the 1050.
