My monitor would randomly display a black screen while strange sounds occur, though the power appears to be active and the computer remains on. However, when attempting to adjust the num lock to test keyboard functionality, neither the color changes nor the mouse DPI/color settings responded. It appears the system might be experiencing freezing issues. The monitor functions properly after a reboot. What problems are present? This issue began after I overclocked my GPU; it seemed stable but crashed recently, just like yesterday. This time, I used default settings and encountered the same problem while playing League of Legends. If this helps, I had to restore the computer after it crashed during the overclock, as it kept displaying black screens. I assumed fixing it to default would resolve it, but it still crashes now. Thank you for your time.

What GPU do you have?
Are you using a custom GPU fan profile?
You might want to uninstall and reinstall the graphics card drivers just to check if that fixes the issue.
I’m still concerned your GPU is overheating. Try increasing the fans until it stays below 70°C during games. See if the black screens persist.
In the worst case, you may have damaged your GPU while trying to overclock it.

It seems your GPU could be overheating, leading to crashes in the graphics driver. This might result in black screens and looping sounds.

It seems your GPU could be overheating, leading to crashes in the graphics driver. The black screens and looping sounds suggest this issue. I checked the temperatures, and both the GPU and VRM stayed within safe limits, but the problem persisted.

I’m still convinced your GPU is overheating. Increase the fans until it stays under 70°C during games. Check if black screens persist. My cousin suggested it could be a DirectX issue, because when I played in windowed mode it started flickering instead of showing black screens and crashing.
In the worst case, you might have damaged your GPU while trying to overclock it.
My GPU is a Sapphire r9 290 tri-x, a 95C model, so 75 seems safe. I updated my Windows 10, and it seems to have fixed the problem—no crashes at all. It probably stems from the crimson driver not working well with the old Windows 10 version.
