Hello everyone ! I experienced some problems with my PC recently.
When starting a game (mainly playing COD and Arena Breakout), everything works smoothly, but after 1-2 games, the system crashes and I see a black screen for a few seconds before returning to normal.
I tried various solutions:
Returning to Windows 10, going back to Windows 11, updating the GPU driver to the old version, running a memory diagnostic, checking the hardware for any issues.
I took my PC to a computer shop in Canada for inspection. They said everything was functioning properly, but they thought the power supply might not be providing enough power to the GPU.
The only error I encounter is in COD – it’s a DirectX error with numbers. When I search for solutions, the answers change frequently, and I’ve tried most of them. Here’s the
Error Code: 0x887A0005 (0x887A0006) (6068) D
As mentioned, the technician at Canada Computer suggested it could be the power supply, but I want to be sure before buying a new one.
Here are my specifications:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
GPU: AMD RX 7900 XTX Red Devil
PSU:
Corsair SF750
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 2x16 DDR5 6400 (set to 5900)
The issue doesn’t seem to be due to overheating, as I ran several stress tests and everything was fine.
If anyone could assist me, I would be very grateful. Thanks!
(p.s : English isn’t my main language, please don’t be too harsh on me)
Update:
I just replaced the PSU with an 850W model, but the problem persists.

The discussion suggests opting for a high-quality 850W power supply, even though the manufacturer recommends 900W. Instead of focusing on that, consider adjusting the RAM speed settings. Your current XMP setting of 5900MT/s could be too aggressive for your 7800X3D. Experiences differ, but it seems AMD processors are generally more manageable to overclock compared to Intel when it comes to memory performance.

Start by disabling XMP and reverting to the default JEDEC RAM speed (likely 4800MT/s). Test stability with a few games. If everything functions well, gradually increase XMP in increments of 200MT/s until issues arise, then reduce by the same steps.

Ensure you perform a comprehensive MemTest using a USB drive for thoroughness. This is more reliable than a quick check from Microsoft. Running multiple tests over two hours provides better insight.

Various tests target different aspects—CPU, RAM, and GPU. Your system passed some checks but still experiences crashes during gameplay. Stress tests aren’t perfect and may miss certain issues. Tools like Aida64’s System Stability Test let you focus on specific components, though the GPU remains untouched in default settings.

If you have PBO enabled, consider disabling it to avoid unnecessary CPU overclocking. The system will likely handle it well regardless.

Hey, I just reset my memory to 4800 and turned off XMP, but the issue persists. I'll try the memtest and will keep you informed.

The issue isn't due to overheating, as the stress tests showed normal results. We need to check the temperatures during the problem's occurrence. The stress test might not be as intense as the applications being used.

I couldn't tell you exactly what it was, but I checked the temperature it should have been, and everything seemed fine.
The issue also occurs even when the PC is cold—like when I boot it up, start a game, and it happens right away in the first one I play.
