Hey everyone, with the release of the third-gen Ryzen, are we expecting a big discount on the second-gen models this Black Friday? I’m considering buying the R7 2700 because it matches my budget.

No historical records found. I searched Amazon using camelcamelcamel.

No, we're in a rather unique market. I wouldn't expect any further price drop though.

Last year the 1000s line fell in value somewhat for BF, only a small drop around $20 to $30.

The Ryzen 2000 has already seen a significant discount. Likely, you might notice the 2600X price drop—though it’s a bit too late if you’re after performance. There’s really little incentive to buy that CPU now; if you need affordability, go for the 2600, and if speed matters, opt for the 3600. The rest of the models in the range are already competitively priced. Still, things can change. It’s possible some stores with ample inventory are trying to offload older stock ahead of 2020.

Are you in the US? The 2700 will drop to $159. 2700x $169. With the possibility of it dropping lower with another retailer (this is NewEgg). Who needs a crystal ball? Oh but it will.

During the last Black Friday, significant savings were available on Ryzen processors. Newegg offered bundles like Gigabyte X370 with Ryzen 7 1700 and 5 1600 for $149. I didn’t catch the 1700 deal but grabbed the 1600 model. I anticipate comparable offers for the 2000 series. Right now, the Ryzen 5 2600 is priced at $117 and the Ryzen 7 2700 at $159. Including an extra $50 for a lower-end B450 or X470 would be quite close to these figures. My forecast suggests around $179,2700 for B450 combos and $149,2600 for B450 models.
