They occasionally produce something acceptable, yet most of their boards are disappointing. Check reviews for each board individually before deciding, as a broken clock is right twice a day.
I run a Biostar board with a soldered CPU as my home server. It functions properly.
Back in the Intel P4 days, Biostar mainly worked on creating boards for other firms, similar to Foxconn. They often made questionable component decisions on their own parts and sometimes their products weren't as reliable as well-known brands. Still, many prebuilt systems come with them, though the actual quality depends on each manufacturer's specifications.
