Hello everyone, I just updated the BIOS on my setup (ASUS B550M-Plus TUF Gaming, CPU: Ryzen 5 3600) to the newest release before planning a CPU change. Now I receive the attached warning each time I restart. Pressing 'N' lets me launch Windows. I’m a bit anxious about pressing 'Y' in case I get stuck and can’t reach my drives. I believe TPM needs to be turned on in Windows 11 (which I installed recently), so I’m concerned it might also have activated BitLocker encryption. I haven’t found any BitLocker or encryption settings in the Windows settings, and when I check my account for a recovery key at the provided link, nothing appears. I’m hoping this means I can press 'Y' and keep accessing my system. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If you never turned on BitLocker, just press Y and it should work. Many users don’t need it either.

You might check if BitLocker is active by looking at your device settings or using built-in tools like System Properties.

Navigate to the control panel. It will show whether it is active or inactive.

Check your drive encryption by launching a command prompt with admin privileges (Run as administrator). Execute the command manage-bde -status to confirm encryption status. Note that the home edition lacks BitLocker protection, meaning your drives won’t be encrypted there.

You're experiencing the same problem, but now you're looking for a backup solution. After pressing Y, the system displayed fully decrypted drives, but you're unsure how to create a restore point in case of issues. It's important to check if any data was lost or corrupted during the process.

All drives are encrypted and the protection status shows off as off. This means you shouldn’t have major concerns. BitLocker is designed to safeguard your information from physical theft, such as someone stealing a drive from your PC. When BitLocker notices the drive isn’t in the same machine it was on before, it will lock it and request a decryption key. During a BIOS update, this can cause BitLocker to assume the drive is no longer present, prompting it to require the key again. A system restore won’t resolve this issue.

Thank you for the clarification on BitLocker. It clarified the cause of the error. No problems detected after executing Y.

It's not a mistake, just a caution signal.

My CAD program needs Windows 11. I updated the ASUS BIOS and everything worked fine. Since none of my disks were encrypted, I tried the usual fix. After rebooting with emergency Windows 10, I used recovery tools but got a message saying it couldn’t resolve the issue. It looks like the only way forward is through the command prompt, though I’m unsure what changes to make. Please help—I’m really worried about this since my main machine depends on it.
