motherboard: TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS (WI-FI) cpu: Ryzen 7 5800x3D current bios version: 2006 attempted bios version: 3404 I have flashed bios updates before and I am familiar with pc stuff. I followed all the correct steps. I verified the serial number on the box and confirmed the right bios update for my board. I extracted the compressed folder from Asus. Used the rename exe provided with the installation folder. The USB drive is formatted with FAT32. I tested various drives and ports on my PC. EZ flash shows the error "selected file is not a proper bios". When using the flash port and button on the board, it doesn’t flash the bios. The only advice I found online is to try older versions one by one to see if they work. Any suggestions? Thank you. Edited February 18, 2024 by Treasure Found the solution

I noticed with Asus that they have a specific USB port for BIOS updates. If the drive isn't in that spot it will not update/read the file. After I learned this and though to myself, well, this is dumb but it is what it is.

Are you attempting to flash the TUF B550-PLUS (Wi-Fi) or the non-Wi-Fi B550M-PLUS firmware? All these models use a 3404 variant that won't work with your hardware.

I also experimented with different USB ports, including the labeled BIOS port, but the issue persists. Noticing that my drive appears in the BIOS as EZ Flash, it seems to be working.

On the Asus site I typed in my serial code to receive the BIOS update and verified it matches the right board.

Uncertain about my previous action, I repeated the process but also looked up B550M with Wi-Fi, applied the BIOS update, and everything functioned correctly. Thank you for your advice!
