I received my X299 EVGA Dark from the US today. I'm considering whether upgrading to the 10980XE might help, as it includes fixes for Meltdown and Spectre that could slightly improve performance. Would it be better to opt for the 9980XE and run an older BIOS version to boost speed? For comparison, with a 9900K and the latest BIOS I'd expect around 7800 in Heaven 4, while an older BIOS would likely yield 8050 across all 1080p tests. Multicore Cinebench numbers show 2150 versus 2200 with the newer BIOS. Thanks ahead!

Hold your horses for the updates... it might turn out Cascade Lake offers superior silicon performance and runs quicker after the patch versus Skylake before the update.
