BIOS Q-Flash Plus failed, display remains static black.
motherboard model: A520M DS3H CPU installed on AMD USB 16GB FAT32 drive. After updating the BIOS to version F10+, the system failed to boot. I considered changing it to a more compatible version (F14+). I renamed the installation file to "gigabyte.bin" and formatted the USB drive correctly. The PC powered on with the PSU connected, and I held the BIOS button for about 1 minute and 30 seconds. The screen remained unchanged after an hour. I tried pressing the button multiple times without success. It seems the BIOS might be corrupted or incompatible. I’m unsure whether to disconnect power or USB first, but I prefer not to risk further damage. What should I do?
According to Gigabyte's website, connect at least a 24-pin connector and CPU connector, and ensure the motherboard receives power. Then, insert the USB only with the gigabyte.bin file attached. Do not power on the PC; instead, press the FLASH button and let it boot automatically. Allow time for the blinking to complete—multiple restarts may be needed. They also provide a specific USB port for BIOS updates; use that one. I encountered the same problem a few days ago and confirmed I updated the file in all caps. Edited August 1, 2022 by Narolan
The problem occurred when holding the button too long or using incorrect file naming (like lowercase "GIGABYTE.bin"). After turning on the PC, I removed the drive and reinserted it with proper capitalization, connected via USB, and pressed the button—no longer held. It worked correctly after installation, which was a big relief. Thanks for the help!
