Curious about how others view updating the latest BIOS on my system. I recently upgraded from an old i7-870 to a Ryzen 3 3100 and downloaded the newest BIOS from Asrock (version 4.10) onto a USB drive. Surprisingly, everything functions perfectly with the older 3.90 BIOS. Since the 3100 is a relatively recent chip, I anticipated needing an update. For context, I mostly edit a few videos weekly, do some audio work (as an actor/director), and play simple games like Strategy, Stellaris, light RPGs, or Fallout 4. I prefer keeping my BIOS current to ensure a smooth upgrade path later. I usually invest in decent motherboards to allow future upgrades of processors, RAM, and graphics cards.
My thoughts are only to update when needed. Since the System seems to run fine, and everything works as intended, there's no need at this time. Just remember to check the bios revision if you upgrade later to a Ryzen 4000 series chip. Enjoy your new rig!
