Hey, I have a HP ZBook 15 G6 that’s nearly five years old. It was given to me by my company for $80 at the end of its life. I upgraded it with 32GB RAM and installed Windows, and it’s been running smoothly for about two months now. I’m thinking about switching to Linux. When I boot up, the BIOS keeps reporting issues—like external and internal keyboard not being detected, and the trackpad cursor moving but not clicking properly. Even after updating the BIOS, the problems persist. I use an external mouse, which works fine, but the BIOS still triggers spam clicks. I’ll share a video if you can help. Thanks in advance for your support! VID-20250810-WA0043(1).mp4

It seems USB interference or BIOS issues might be the cause. Have you attempted resetting to factory settings, particularly after updating the BIOS? If those don’t resolve the problem, consider draining the CMOS battery using the traditional method (remove the battery if applicable, following your manual’s instructions). Good luck!

I managed to restart the BIOS, yet the problem remains and clicking with the trackpad causes it to freeze.

If the issue lies in the BIOS, you might need to update the earlier BIOS version before proceeding. Laptops tend to be more sensitive than desktops, so you could have to flash the BIOS several times until it works correctly. Good luck!
