You're facing a common issue with motherboard compatibility. The Asus Z690-i supports the Samsung 980 Pro, but BIOS settings can affect recognition. Try updating your BIOS to the latest version for your specific chipset, or check if your system uses a different BIOS edition. If problems persist, consider consulting ASUS support or checking community forums for similar experiences.

Checking the drive in the BIOS? Look under Advanced > NVME Configuration. Verify that Advanced > PCI Subsystem Settings > SR-IOV is enabled.

The system does not detect any NVMe device despite NVMe Configuration SR-IOV being turned off; adjusting it had no effect.

I went through the same situation and on the second try I updated the FAQ that mentioned: -Enable secure boot (I don’t know what secure boot is called on your motherboard but turn it on) -Disable overclocking for my RAM and CPU And it worked. Try this and if it doesn’t, check the FAQ section of your motherboard on the website. There should be one about your case, probably.

For the secure boot I referred to Launch CSM. Here: https://rog.asus.com/support/FAQ/1044083 (This was listed on the FAQ tab and uses TUF B450-PLUS Gaming as an example, not my own link)
