I kept my i5-2500k locked at 4.5ghz stable for several months, until I had to reset the CMOS settings because of an issue. I'm installing the newest BIOS update from the maker, using the Asrock Extreme4 Z77 model. I’m aware this board handles overclocking well and I’ve done it before, but now my BIOS behaves differently compared to others with the same hardware. For example, I can’t raise the clock speed beyond 3.7ghz, and I don’t have access to the XMP file to adjust my RAM from 1333mhz to 1600mhz as intended. Any advice would be very much appreciated!

Try updating your BIOS to an earlier release and observe the results.
