I'm currently at 5.2 with a ring setting of 4.9. The suggestion is to lower the ring to x3-6 behind, but why? It slows down for both the 10850K and 4790K models. I've checked this before, especially regarding distance from the ring and scaling frames. I tend to increase the scale higher as more rings are added, especially with multiplayer low settings. In my recent 5x game testing up to 5.0 rings, 5.1 causes instability, dropping frames at average levels. At 5.2/50, FPS still improves and latency decreases compared to 5.2/48 and 52/49 in the games I play. If it becomes unstable, it drops frames; if stable, it works well on my machine. I believe people should test what they own and see the results themselves. People often settle for a lower overclock due to lack of patience and may share biased advice online.
This was my initial test case. I opted for larger deltas instead of higher ones. "Best to use -3" doesn't reflect the findings well. I've tried 51x with 48x/49x and a 50x ring, and it performs better with increasing rings in game testing. My concern is that comparing -3 Ring against Core isn't reliable without extensive testing across various games and applications.
