I’m a web developer who mainly needs a solid Facebook app. If you’re not aiming to write thousands of lines of code or manage many containers, just having a smooth browsing experience with 16GB RAM should work perfectly.

Wattage doesn't reflect performance. A 550w isn't sufficient for most single GPU setups. Checking PCPartPicker gives you a detailed list. You might consider a 32 gigabit kit, though it really depends on your project size. The case selection is currently limited, but options like the P400A are available. The focus G model offers solid value.

You don’t require a top-tier gaming PC for web development. Anything capable of handling a text editor works fine. https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/suppo...quirements Hardware# Visual Studio Code is a compact download (< 100 MB) with a disk usage of 200 MB. VS Code runs efficiently on modern systems. We suggest: a 1.6 GHz processor or higher, at least 1 GB RAM. Visual Studio code is likely the most widely used IDE. This should suit you well: - Ryzen 3200 or even a Celeron can handle it. - 16 GB RAM provides ample space for Chrome browsers. - A 500 GB SSD offers sufficient storage for coding tasks. That’s all you need. (I build web)

In that scenario a 3700x would be preferable.

Don't misunderstand the push for expensive web development builds. Web development isn't a gaming setup. The OP should follow @SupaKomputa's advice.

He recommended a $1,000 project. I thought it wasn’t clear how much processing power it would require, but that was the only budget we had.
