Searching for a lightweight desktop setup for Pop_os. Likely to move to Manjaro later as I improve with Linux. Appreciate the KDE Plasma style, but also want other nice options. Planning to run on a gaming PC with a Ryzen 7 3700X and 2x 1080T graphics.

The most precise term would be something like "cleanest" as used in riced plasma, i3, or awesome—essentially any configuration that meets the cleanliness criteria.

I recommend switching distros rather than adjusting the Pop OS desktop environment, since compatibility issues may arise. With some adjustments, it should function, though it might require some tweaking. Given your plan to move to Manjaro later, I think you're not a heavy Linux user, so consider changing the distro or using a theme that matches your preference for a tidy look. Elementary OS is a good option—it's straightforward and Debian-based, similar to Pop OS.

Both appear quite appealing to me.

The concept you're referring to involves choosing a desktop environment that balances minimalism with visual appeal. It seems you're evaluating options based on simplicity and aesthetics. Among the choices, GNOME offers a clean interface with a simple layout, while Deepin is noted for its modern design despite some performance considerations. KDE emerges as a strong contender for its potential to deliver a visually striking experience. If you're considering alternatives, Arch or Manjaro are recommended due to their recent updates and active development.

In my view, Manjaro is simpler to handle compared to Pop, particularly when you're seeking a distinct operating system, since it provides a broad range of ready-to-use desktop options.
