Hi, I need some guidance on picking a laptop for your son. He’s mostly doing schoolwork and plays games like Minecraft or Roblox. Could you assist with the selection?

I’d like to know your budget, which is around 400$.
The notebook size should be 15 inches or larger.
The screen resolution needs to be at least 1920×1080.
Do you need a portable or desktop model?
Portable would be best.
For battery life, he wants as much as possible for this price.
He also wants to play games, so I’m thinking low, medium, or high settings.
Yes, he prefers low settings for games like Minecraft and Roblox.
Other tasks include photo/video editing, browsing, etc.
General use is what he’ll need.
Storage capacity should be at least 256GB, preferably 512GB.
If you have any preferred sites to buy from, please share them.
No specific brand preference.
He plans to keep the laptop for about four years, with a possibility of his younger brother using it for two more years.
He lives in the USA.

With that budget, it might be wiser to consider the second-hand market.

Hey there,
If you locate something similar in the US, it comes close in cost. However, due to the intimidation factor, that price point still indicates weak real-world performance.

The amount shown is in Euros, with tax (Vat) included.

I noticed reconditioned Surface Pro 7 models available on Amazon for about $350 a few months back.

I avoid these surfaces as they aren't very durable and can't be fixed. One laptop in the list should suffice; the Lenovo Idea Pad slim 3 with Ryzen 5 is a solid option. You might consider adding a 1 or 2 year protection plan during purchase for an extra 30 to 60 dollars.
