Hey guys! so finalllyy after 10 years with the gtx 670 and my 60hz monitor I got a new 200hz monitor and RX 5600xt YAAAAY.
but happiness doesn't last...
This is my current rig:
Lenovo thinkstation s20
W3680 3.7ghz
16gb ram 1333hz
625w psu
so, for games that GPU based the system is great, above great too, ruuning all games at ultra 1080p at above 60fps, tho, games that are cpu based like ( fortnite - valorant ) can only play on 100-120fps, I got the 200hz for the reason to play these games

My question here is , as my current board doesn't allow overclocking above 3.7ghz (locked bios) .
Option 1= get a x58 board for cheap there is one gigabyte sold for $20 where I live, should I get this and overclock the cpu to around say 4.3ghz?
Option 2= get a new bundle , like Ryzen 5 3600, but the whole bundle gonna cost me above $200, and I don't have this money right now . so what do you guys think?

The PSU that came with the Lenovo Asus TUF 3 EVO gaming is second-hand. It was purchased today. The temperature at Furmark is 81°C, which seems normal.

I don't know what to pick, that's why I'm asking, and is 5 3600 even suitable?
Around 32c, 1080p without anti-aliasing, at idle it's 55c, but when I start the benchmark it jumps up to 72c and begins to struggle. I didn't adjust the airflow, I didn't change the thermal paste since the card is sealed and never openedāshould I still do that? I have an Arctic MX6 on hand.
Core 1780mhz, memory 1750mhz.
I haven't undervolted itāit's running at 0.987.

Pci-e bus connector on your Lenovo is probably a limiting factor. Doesn't run at pci-e 3.0 or 4.0. Pci-e 2.0 gets restricted to 1/4 of the bandwidth for a significant performance hit.
Maybe one of the lower tdp cards like an rtx 3050 would've been a better match for your system. Think it's a mere 70w pwr usage for the 6gb version drawn from the slot still, not sure how well or long it would run on an ancient 2.0 pci-e slot. Near to the max 75w for a pci-e slot anyway.
Frame rate calculator seems to think you could get 200fps with a 3050 - but that would be without any pci-e bus restrictions. Bearing in mind that the calculator probably expects ddr4/5 memory is in the system rather than ddr3 1333mhz also.
There isn't any way around that. Even older gaming cards might tip it over the edge in the event.

The power supply in your lenovo thinkstation is unlikely to support a modern gpu for long anyway it's gonna frazzle most likely. Seem to recall that pci-e slots on older machines did not fare too well with modern gpu's either. That's the mobo done for.
You can't switch it for a modern psu like for like since it's proprietary design with different connectors. When it's gone it's gone and will not be recoverable.
The lenovo psu will not have transient response or oc/inrush protections of modern psu's.
I think a modern psu might fit in the case but the connectors would not match the mobo so that would be that for that. mobo down 3 for 3 - outdated pci-e slot that never performed to spec in practice anyway. Different proprietary pwr connectors from standard atx. And restricted to ddr 3 memory speeds also.

Those proprietary lenovo cases probably have a few snags that'll make it difficult to put a modern mobo in. Don't know a thing about the positioning of the standoffs to secure the mobo in the case. Could well be a proprietary board with different mount points.

So close, so far. The cpu should be able to do it just the cpu+gpu combo is limited by the power supply +pci-e slots which are fatal weak links.
You'd likely need psu, mobo, ram, cpu, cooler, power supply and case. If you don't also destroy the gpu with your current power supply. Plus a fresh windows license. Then probably an nvme drive.
If the pc shuts down and won't switch on, that's a pretty sure sign your goose is cooked. One way or the other new pc. What you're trying to do with the Lenovo is not possible.
If you're expecting such an old machine to last much longer you'd probably be disappointed too. Whether a new build is possible depends on your budget. You can't do this right now.
Could try and keep an eye out for a 'newer' used system with better specs. Wouldn't count on finding one unless they uh 'overlook' such an item. The theory of everything suggests that anything useful is probably in use.
Could get the mobo for $20 as long as you get new appropriate psu and probably case and re-use the cpu, mem and whatever drive you're using. not sure what it would spell for your windows activation. - Long as you can identify it as a free standing atx standard board that has some kind of identifiable model to it . And it works. What you're after on that is simply standard atx pwr connectors for a new psu. Still would fall short on the pci-e bus bandwidth I expect.
Guess you could try sign up to a ms account with your current build see if you can get a digital license. Often switching mobos will trigger some sort of challenge.
Oh of course and it wouldn't be win 11 ready ever, so that probly necessitates going for the ryzen build. Unless you find any workarounds to the win 10 retirement or pay for extended support.

You can search the PC market on Googleāthere are many sites like Sigma-Compumarts. But Iām not planning to buy new parts; Iām looking for used ones. Thatās why Iām asking for the best possible combination for my RX5600XT so I can check prices. Iād prefer the most budget-friendly option with good performance.

Definitely no to a used PSU. Case could be anything long as it's an ATX tower. Could use a 30 year old mid tower if it hasn't rusted out - only doesn't match modern cases for fan mounts, air flow, cable management and drive bays. If you knew what you were looking for 'perhaps' a mid tower from a car boot sale would do fine practically. Modern cases have all but ditched the old 5.25 drive bays for dvd-roms and multimedia dashes in favor of front intake fan mounts.
I've never personally been a fan of the micro atx form factor but that does kind of restrict budget options a lil. So I never really investigated those options much.
Also avoiding am4 boards with the realtek acl 897 codec - it's pretty naff, tough to get a good balanced sound out of it, without 3rd party paid sound applications or simply an alternate discrete audio card.
If you have a budget of around $700 you could probably get a ryzen r5 5600 build (or 5600t, 5600x or 5600xt variant). These are hex core (6core 12thread) cpu's that are considered a tad long in the tooth for modern gaming against the prevailing view preferring 8 cores but it will be ok with often a few compromises, at least for a coupla years. Far as newer releases go. Older stuff will work fine besides the handful of xtra heavy titles of yester-um-'day'.

to help you understand am4 a bit better - dunno what off grid bargains you might find theory of everything or not.
When you choose a board you must visit the mobo manufacturer board model site for the QVL memory compatibility list. 32gb DDR4 was recently announced by steam as the new standard going forwards. 3600mhz is preferred for Ryzen.
For a higly optimized build, it's possible to get a higher end board paired with highly overclocked memory but that is on the more insane side of budget tbh.
Psu Tier List
- look out for any alarming notes on any psu you might select. No inrush protection for example on the cooler master mwe v3 means, when you turn the power on it could trip circuit breakers particularly if the local grid isn't exactly tip top on spec. Current inrush occurs when the psu capacitors charge quickly when powered on. Avoid Tier E or D units altogether.
Tier C is risking your one and only budget. B+ an option for borderline good quality - The coolermaster mwe V2 for example, has no alarming notes beside it. That should furnish you with the general idea.

- lil snag there doesn't seem to have an Egyptian locale. Though I guess you could still construct a build with it and check compatibility for a ballpark estimate of what you might be able to find locally.
Also possible to consider an alternative Intel build - with a 12400f cpu as a base.
If you really want expert advice then you can ask for a new build advice state budget, purpose (1080p gaming) and locale - start a new thread in the Systems section of the forum.
At this stage I'll just advise you of what I've found to be a few pitfalls on the road to an am4 build - besides, there is no way for me to know how local vendors in egypt are massaging the prices of the parts you might want.
Do spend a mo. pondering the links anyhow - what you find with mobo vendors if they have 4 or 5 boards in their line up one might be a bit of a lame duck while the rest are pretty decent. So there isn't really a way around a certain level of market awareness and vigilance.
Have to gen up a lil and then cross reference your preferred selection to what is actually available locally within budget. Most say, a lot of the features on premium x570 boards aren't necessary. Some have a cheat sheet and use a320m micro atx boards - but to risk it you'd need a good cooler and psu. And maybe a way of updating a bios so it can work with a 5000 series cpu. Still I wouldn't expect a noob (no offence) to know which a320 board could be usable. I don't really know... I just don't go there since I prefer full atx anyway.
There aren't many things you can cheap out on. As Chef John might say - you are the architect of your frame rate.
*May be poss to squeeze a budget am5 build into the budget also but probly only with lower end boards and budget cpus that might compromise a lot on upgrade path or simply reliability and quality.
I just checked my Sealed rx5600xt and found the thermal paste condition. I swapped it with Arctic MX6. The GPU went from 85°C to 70°C max!!! When I opened the case, it jumped instantly to 75°C (similar to my old GTX 670 3x OC, which was the same as my current RX 5600, so I suspected an issue). After changing the paste, when the card was idle it settled at 40°C now (previously idling at 52°Cš¤Ø), and gradually rose from 43-44-45 over time. After about 15 minutes it reached a max of 70°C, down from 85°C possibly even higher! GUYS DON'T FORGET TO CHANGE THE THERMAL PASTE IF YOU HAVE TEMPERING PROBLEMS
