Hi there, I understand this might sound a bit overused, but I’m eager to begin creating games. So far, I’ve experimented with Python and haven’t made much progress. My current skills are limited to HTML and simple CSS. I’m hoping to develop first-person games or RPGs eventually, but I’m not sure where to start. Any recommendations for books or online resources would be really helpful. Also, please note that any SDK I use should be free, sorry.

I might assist by trying out the games. Sounds enjoyable to me.

Consider Unity 4.6 for its excellent tutorials and strong support. The basics are straightforward to learn. UDK and CryEngine are also good options, though UDK relies on C++ source code. Currently developing a first-person shooter in Unity.

Yep! Unity 4.6 costs $75 a month just for extra textures, which isn’t worth it unless you’re in a studio. UDK used to be $30,000, but now the professional version is $20 a month—still only good if you’re diving deep into game design or running a studio. CryEngine is pretty cool, but it’s backed by Crytek, which feels a bit odd.

It indicates that the site only lists Unity Pro as an option, suggesting it might be a premium or advanced feature not available in other versions.

Textures for the free version won't be accessible, but it should still appear great. (According to what I understand, it works across platforms.) Tutorials are available at the provided link. I'm ready to download Unity right away!
