I was handling a home network upgrade using a MikroTik CRS305 and CSS326. I connected two Avago 10Gbps SFSP+ transceivers and a 30m multimode fiber, but the link isn’t showing up. When trying to reach the CSS326 via its management IP, there’s no response. I noticed a fault on my cable—could it be damaged? Also, I have some Cisco transceivers nearby; might they help?

The cables are yellow and appear designed for single-mode connections; this is probably the problem. The damage could be the cause, though I've noticed some damaged cables still functioning properly, making it less likely.

I just checked the label on the cable and noticed SM printed on the side. I plan to get a new one and test it, but running the 30-meter cable through my home will be problematic. Your YouTube videos are really helpful too.

The easiest solution is to use single-mode transceivers.

I think I’ll proceed like this. My transceivers operate at 850nm, but the Amazon listing only supports 10Gb at 1550nm or 1310nm.

Search for 10gbase-lr in single mode. Use 10gbase-sr for multimode.

Sure, fs.com is typically my preferred option, though I wasn't entirely clear on the required speed.

Thank you for considering the importance of timing, even in a home setup.
