BCLK OC help!
BCLK OC help!
Hi, I'm working on overclocking my i5-6500 @3.2GHz. I've changed the BIOS and flashed it with a BIOS that supports non-K OC just to confirm I removed any microcode updates. After setting BCLK to 120 and voltage to 1.325V, I saved and restarted. It booted back into the BIOS but showed an error: "Boot Failure Detected." I adjusted settings but only got a BCLK of 101. Someone might help me out. My system details are: i5-6100 @3.2GHz, Gigabyte Z170X UD5 TH, 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws V 2133MHz, GTX 1060 6GB, 1TB WD Blue, 1TB WD Green.
You cannot exceed 102-103MHz for BCLK at the highest setting. BCLK covers everything from the PCIe bus to SATA, so increasing it too much could damage your drive data. In short, for overclocking it's better to use a K CPU.
Kasper Jorgensen:
You cannot push BCLK beyond 102-103MHz at the highest setting. BCLK covers everything from the PCIe bus to SATA, so increasing it too much could damage all your drive data. In short, if you really want to overclock, you should consider using a K CPU instead. I don’t understand why many people on YouTube do that with higher BCLK values.
