I've seen many people using the AMD BC-250 as a gaming setup. My unit works well so far, but I'm facing an issue with power supply. I connect it to a tower PC that has a 750W PSU and I need a dedicated unit. The board uses an 8-pin connector like a GPU, and I've tried two PSUs—one from Dell and another from JAMECO—but both failed. My questions are: why can a tower PSU handle it, and what 8-pin PSU could work for this setup? Have others shared their experiences?

You'll also find many SFX/TFX 300W options on eBay—just type "Seasonic 300W" in your search. For setup, you can use a PCI-E 8-pin extension cable, cut it halfway, and connect the 12V and ground wires from a power supply to the appropriate terminals. These units often feature a dual-rail design: one rail powers the 24-pin connector and peripherals, while another handles the CPU 8-pin and possibly PCI-E 6 pins.
Essentially, I’m just hauling a full tower PSU and trying some odd wiring. I was aiming for more modularity, but it seems this is now my only choice—or I’ll have to build another tower and fit it in somewhere, shorting the 24pin so it powers up when I flip the switch for the BC 250.
