I thought I'd pass along this update about the Heroes battlefield and Need for Speed worlds shutting down. It's a pretty disappointing piece of news since I've spent many hours on Heroes and really enjoyed it. You can check out their forums here: http://www.battlefieldheroes.com/en/foru...tid=505380 and here: https://world.needforspeed.com/news/article/52361. Also, it seems Battlefield Play4free is closing too – more info at http://battlefield.play4free.com/en/foru...pid1985627

It's a big disappointment about NFSTW, but it's actually a solid free PC game! Why would they shut it down forever though?

Well, the last decent F2P racing game is fading away... unfortunately, the only option left is Drift City, which is also disappearing. The community has vanished quickly, and with all the moves, it’s gone. It wasn’t a large fanbase from the start. Now online play is gone, this is gone, and Drift City is slowly dying—partly because it became too much of a P2P experience, another reason for its decline. TM Nations is the only F2P racer I’m aware of, but that’s also heading downhill since nothing is changing. It seems racing MMOs might be fading too... (yes, there are World of Speed and Auto Club Revolution, but I don’t see much hope there)

It seems the battlefield hardline for PC will likely join this community soon—not because of any EA announcement, but since no one is playing it on PC. The game is only a month old and had up to 12,000 players, but now numbers have dropped to around 7,000 and continuing to fall. I’m glad I didn’t buy it. Stats from www.bfhstats.com

It's frustrating when a game relies on a single company server; players deserve independent servers to maintain the experience.
