I've never played a Battlefield title before. Usually I opt for Planetside 2 when craving a first-person shooter, but I'm a history enthusiast and the trailer really impressed me. I’m curious how it feels to experience World War I through a modern engine and powerful hardware after all these years. It’s almost like a dream come true—my ancestor fought in that conflict! I’m excited to try it on PC, though I’m not well versed in the Battlefield series overall. Will this be my first real exposure? What kind of gameplay does it offer? Is there usually a campaign or just multiplayer? How does it stack up against other FPS titles like the CoD series? I’ve enjoyed one CoD game before, but this time I’m avoiding space battles and prefer sci-fi vibes. If I want something beyond the usual trenches, Planetside 2 will be my go-to.
I personally believe you don't have to play other games within these categories to join the series. They don't share a unified narrative. Just jump in and start shooting.
I wondered how maps might differ between these experiences. Most FPS titles use compact city-like environments such as CoD, TF2 or CSGO. I don’t see them replicating that in this game, yet I also can’t imagine it matching the huge scale I’m used to in Planetside 2.
They mentioned it would focus on tighter, closer encounters similar to the BF4 map pack. I preferred Call of Duty over Battlefield, but lately I haven’t enjoyed either game much. I’m not sure why—I just don’t like Battlefield. Plus, I haven’t really been into the newer first-person shooters much.
