Battery failure affecting CMOS chip operation
Battery failure affecting CMOS chip operation
I've noticed a recurring problem with my computer: after unplugging it, the BIOS resets. Even after replacing a fresh battery, it still doesn't function. Using a multimeter, I discovered the chip isn’t receiving power from the battery. The solder joints on the battery holder look solid, and the connection to the motherboard appears intact. Now I’m trying to figure out why the CMOS/BIOS chip isn’t getting power. My motherboard is an Asrock B450 Pro4, and the CMOS chip in question is this one. Any suggestions on how to resolve this? I have a soldering iron available if needed.
It's too late for that, and I also found it used a bit on eBay some time ago. I only became aware of this problem after the return period ended.
