I don't understand the issue with the gamepad controls. The A button seems to act like the B button, and the X and Y buttons behave similarly. Also, moving forward causes the character to move backward. Please let me know if you need assistance.

I verified my own version. There are no alternative control options; it only works with Xbox 360-style controllers. Likely the problem is that not all controllers are the same.
