Hi, I've faced the same problem when enabling D.O.C.P. My computer would crash and restart three times, reporting issues with the RAM and resetting its configuration. It says my memory settings were reset because it couldn't boot. I checked every RAM module and found only one affected. This began early this morning, and sometimes I can access Windows with all installed RAMs. The D.O.C.P. settings are setting the RAM to 3000MHz at 1.35000V. Anyone has any suggestions? I've also tried rearranging the RAM, updated my BIOS, reset it, changed the voltage to 1.37V, but nothing helped. The faulty RAM stick is a Corsair CMK16GX4MB3000C15 DDR4 3000MHz. My system specs are: ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming Ryzen 7 2700X, 2x Corsair CMK16GX4MB3000C15 DDR4 3000MHz, 2x A-Data DDR4 3000, 2OZ DDR4 GTX 1070 Ti, DUKE EVGA 80+ BRONZE 500W. Please assist. Thanks.
Is 'Gear Down' activated in BIOS? This adjusts even timings (like your CL15 becoming CL16) for better stability—should be on when enabled. Are you using both the A-Data and Corsair products? Running four DIMMs strains the IMC more than two, especially on Ryzen 1000/2000 chips, and the IMC performance was limited. Consider raising your SOC voltage to around 1.1V; this often improves DRAM overclock stability. Typical stock voltage is about 0.9V.
My SOC voltage is already set to 1.100V with D.O.C.P active. I also don’t see an option named “Gear Down.” Yes, I’m using both kits and they match in speed and timing. I’m not sure what triggered this since my PC started early this morning and there were no problems yesterday either. I built this last night. I need all 32 GB of RAM installed. Please let me know if you need more images—I can still access Windows and boot with three drives.
You're using a 2nd Gen Ryzen CPU and might not be compatible with DDR4-3000. Consider trying DDR4-2933 or DDR4-2800 instead. Activate DOCP to adjust timing and voltage, but pick the exact memory frequency manually—like DDR4-2933, 2800, or 2666. Check if Corsair and A-Data kits offer identical timings/specs. If one is labeled for DDR4-3000 with specific timings (e.g., 16-16-16-38), another kit designed for DDR4-3000 with different timings (like 15-17-17-36) may not perform well. Use the 'DRAM Timing Control' menu to set 'Gear Down Mode'.
They match the same times. I’ve reached below 3000 and it didn’t work either. I can run 3000 on the other three dimmers without issue. But once I put this one in, it fails. I’ll switch to gear down mode right away and tweak some settings to see if it functions.
I managed to boot into Windows with 3000mhz but I’m concerned about stability. It was leading to BIOS corruption on its own and also affecting Windows. Every time I restart it, it reports the BIOS is in recovery mode. I don’t know if that’s happening or not. Also, it keeps crashing during games. EDIT (It’s still doing the BIOS thing.) (Same issue, just a different file name instead of x299E3.cap, now it’s B450FGM.Cap)
I hope the one DRAM module isn’t completely broken when it leaves the factory – but that’s possible too. It’s still uncertain right now. What BIOS version is currently programmed on your motherboard? According to ASUS, the newest available is 3103 (released 2020/06/23). Excluding the latest 4001 BETA, which applies only to Ryzen 5000 models. When you install this BIOS, support for Ryzen 3000-series and earlier is removed. The instructions warn: - Don’t upgrade to this beta BIOS if your board uses an AM4 socket for Ryzen 3000 series or lower. - This beta BIOS cannot be rolled back.
I installed the internet updater from the BIOS, which updated me to version 4001. However, this update occurred after the stick stopped functioning. Prior to that, I used version 3103, but it also didn’t work. The stick had operated normally for an entire day beforehand. It seems there might have been a problem during overclocking.
