I needed 32GB of RAM but installed an extra 16GB in slots 1 and 3 along with slots 2 and 4. The system functioned properly in slots 2 and 4 initially. Once powered on, the RGB lights didn’t activate for the new RAM, and a long beep followed immediately after startup. The DRAM LED stayed on. After swapping back, the computer still wouldn’t boot, even into BIOS. Removing the new RAM and reinserting the old one in slots 1 and 3 worked temporarily, but once I took it out again, the PC failed completely. The RAM lights remained off and displayed code 10 right away when I turned it on. Now the machine is completely non-functional, regardless of whether I use the old or new RAM. All RAM configurations are identical—4x8GB (2x8GB + 2x8GB). It’s a faulty board, Asus Crosshair Hero VIII.

Determine the method to clear the CMOS on your device (often via a jumper) and test it sequentially, one at a time.

Only a zip code was provided. To obtain the beep code, connect the small speaker to the FP and refer to the post code and beep code guide.

I disabled all RAM and the PC still shows code 10, which is concerning.

Have you checked the safe boot option at the bottom of the motherboard? The pre-flight initialization mentions q-code 10, which suggests it’s a bit confusing for me. I’d likely take out the CPU, GPU, and RAM, then reinstall everything, and reset the CMOS using the rear I/O button. Of course, removing and reinserting the CPU means getting fresh thermal paste (just a guess).

I received advice from a technician who works as a PC specialist. He reassured me and helped me through a stressful moment. He thoroughly cleaned all contacts with his thumb, then installed my modules one by one until they worked. After that, he added two more modules and everything functioned properly. I’m still trying to figure out exactly what he did, but I think it was just a more careful installation process compared to what I tried.

I'm curious about how Q code 10 relates to memory. If it does, why was the display showing code 10 even though there was no RAM installed? Also, did your friend just tidy up the contact points?

This was the first time I added two extra modules, but I received a long beep. After that, nothing happened. Apparently, I installed the PC speaker for MoBo.

A single long beep means everything worked. That’s a positive sign. When nothing happens, it usually just means you’ve reached your limit and restarted. After a clean CMOS reset, the initial post might take up to 180 seconds.
