Bad CPU?
Bad CPU?
Hi!
I'm facing some issues with a computer I recently bought second hand.
Its specs are: I7-7700K, GTX 1080ti 11GB Strix, Asus Maximus VIII Ranger, 16 GB RAM (8 x 2) at 3200 Mhz, EVGA Supernova G3 650W.
Occasionally when trying to boot, the machine powers on for about half a second to a minute before shutting down. When it does boot, no image appears. The fans spin, and the GPU light stays on. I've tested HDMI and DisplayPort on both the GPU and the iGPU, but nothing works.
At first, I had four 8 GB RAM sticks installed. Then I received a Q-code of 54, indicating a RAM issue. After removing all the sticks and installing just two, the problem disappeared temporarily, but then I got a Q-code 4: PCH initialization before microcode loading. I changed the RAM again and tried flashing BIOS via USB, but no improvement. Now I'm back to the 54 error and the DRAM light on the motherboard.
Any suggestions about what might be wrong? I've also tried a different motherboard and power supply without success!
