Yeah, there is one IT guy. But I'm always on the move. And I hate going to the office, because it feels bad to leave 2~3 hours early (even if I have nothing to do all day long which happens frequently). And I don't want to leave before everyone else, so I stay an extra hour. My job rocks because I only have to intervene on construction sites a few hours at a time. I basically work 2~7 hours a day (and get paid 8). So I figured I would fix it myself. Going to the office is truly waste of my time (even if I'm technically paid to be there). Yeah, I'm spoiled. If I were doing the same job in Canada, I would be working 12~14 hours per day.
Have TeamViewer installed on your laptop. Contact the IT specialist to connect remotely. Also, you need to be part of a welfare state.
I’m based in Paris. It was tough to secure steady work in Canada. French culture views work differently, and many in my team don’t understand my role. They often think my tasks take longer than they actually do. It’s a solid position—everyone else puts in double the effort here. I tend to stay quiet.
I revisited my settings and removed that unsettling Chinese theme. I’m still puzzled about why it was there—what do those letters even signify? Could it be a joke? I won’t find out. The issue is fixed, though I don’t understand why I had it in the first place. It might reappear, but I suspect my system isn’t as fast as it should be after the scan and all. Since my work requires linking dots to create 3D models of holes, I don’t need much power. This machine is more than enough for me.
