I’m switching to a 5950x and have a B550 motherboard. You mentioned an MSI B550 A-Pro. Should I upgrade to an X570 for this CPU? I don’t intend to overclock it at the moment. For reference, my main use is content creation with light gaming, and I have a RTX 3060. The 5900x might be worth looking into if the GPU could become a bottleneck.

You're likely missing capabilities found in the B550 that the X570 offers. Unless you really need those extra features, your MSI B550 A-Pro should work just fine for the 5950X.

I own a 5950x with a b550 steel build and it's working perfectly. No need for a new motherboard unless you intend to overclock.
