I recently switched from a Ryzen 1600 to a 5600X. After confirming with the 1600X, it works well with all four slots active. However, with the 5600X and slots B1/B2 occupied, MOBO enters a boot loop, fans spin, but no boot screen appears. Slots A1/A2 work fine when booting. The manual recommends using A2/B2 for two sticks, but it doesn’t boot. I bought the board and case at a county surplus store, so I’m unsure about warranty coverage. I’ve cleaned all channels, removed and reinserted the CPU, and tested with one stick per channel in A1/A2. I also tried different RAM, but the issue persisted. I reset the CMOS, unplugged and replugged everything. Could you assist? I’m currently using four 16GB Crucial DDR4 Pro modules (CP16G4DFRA32A.M16FE) to try 64GB, plus two 8GB Crucial Ballistix sticks (BL832C16U4B.M8FE1). Would it be possible to use A1/A2 with two 32GB sticks? Or could ignoring the A2/B2 damage harm the motherboard?
With just two sticks it looks like the best setup right now. I’d choose the 2 x 32 sticks of RAM to reach your 64 gig target. I’m using Corsair Dominator, placed in slots A2 and B2, and everything functions perfectly. Just a heads up—I’m using an Asus ROG Strix X670E-E Wi-Fi motherboard. Take care and good luck!
It's feasible to upgrade your BIOS from a first-gen Ryzen to a 4th-gen model, but it’s a significant jump. You probably don’t have a BIOS compatible with the 5000 series yet. Check the ASrocks site for the appropriate version.
I think there could be an issue with a missing or bent pin on the 5600X connected to the B memory channel. Using A1/A2 would restrict you to one channel, reducing your memory bandwidth by half. For comparison:
