I'm building a PC for my buddies nephew and it posted once with one stick of ram, then I added another stick and it hasn't posted again. I removed the second stick, no post. Swapped sticks nothing. I'm using second hand (only owned by me) ram so there is a chance that some of these sticks are dead, but that doesn't change the fact that it won't post again in the same configuration it posted before. I just reset the cmos but haven't pulled the battery. Maybe I'm not giving it enough time to memory test. System: MB ASRock B450M-HDV r4 CPU AMD R5 4500 RAM various GPU Intel A380 PSU Corsair CX650 SSD Teamgroup MP33 1TB *I knew this was going to be a challenge figuring out which memory sticks are dead

Place one stick at a time in the farthest slot from the CPU socket. To restore BIOS settings, take out the battery and unplug the device—while it remains plugged in and the power source is active via the switch in the back, the supply will keep 5v standby to preserve the BIOS configuration. After resetting, it might need up to a minute or longer for the monitor to display an image, as the system is learning the memory stick’s timing. Be gentle and avoid shutting down the computer if you don’t see the screen immediately; patience is key.

It seems the initial slot isn't working. Not sure if it's related to the CPU memory controller or the motherboard. I'm going to replace the CPU to check further.

Another CPU wasn't the issue, but the update to UEFI worked! The system is now fully operational. Starting Windows installation now.
