You're considering whether to upgrade to an X470 or a B450 motherboard. The key factor is your need for a 5V ARGB header. Check the specifications of both models to see which supports this requirement.

The concepts “need” and “rgb” don’t usually fit together in the same discussion. A USB controller might be relevant, as b450 is often treated similarly to x470 in many uses. The main limitation of b450 is its inability to support more than one video card, which isn’t usually a big issue. You could review the schematics for each chipset to get a clearer picture.

Use your board and purchase a controller that links to the motherboard's internal USB header to enable software management.
