B450 Tomahawk Memory Issue
B450 Tomahawk Memory Issue
Hey there! I've been working on setting up my Stream PC specs with a B450 Tomahawk motherboard, Ryzen 7 2700X, TeamGroup Xcalibur 3600MHz RAM, GTX 1060 Ti. The issue is that my RAM maxes out at around 3000MHz, even after trying everything—adjusting XMP, manually tweaking voltage and timings, using AMD DRAM Calculator—but it always resets back to 2400MHz. I've checked every setting up to 3600MHz and it keeps reverting. Has anyone seen this before? Also, the latest BIOS update helped a bit but not enough. Any tips or advice?
Zen+ CPUs may perform poorly even at just 3000MHz RAM. The issue lies with the CPU itself.
I used two different processors in this system—a 3200G and a 2700X—and they performed the same tasks.
The issue lies in the fact that these devices support up to 3400 OC yet fail to boot beyond 3000 OC.
3200G remains Zen+, similar to the 2700X. The CPU retains its performance without missing the silicon advantage. It seems you might have missed an update—consider checking the BIOS.
I refreshed the bios and wondered how unlikely it is for both my CPUs to fail? Lamee
Have you considered contacting MSI? I faced problems with my Ryzen 1st generation and AsRock support managed to raise my RAM speed to 3000MHz previously. Sending them an email with the specifics might help.
