B450 Tomahawk isn't compatible with the Ryzen 3600x processor.
I’m considering switching to the MSI B450 Tomahawk Max motherboard. I’ve heard the original model doesn’t support the Ryzen 5 3600x, so I want to know if there’s really a difference beyond that name change. Would upgrading be a good investment since I just bought the older board? Please wait while I try to understand this better. - jkidd
It works with your CPU, but you prefer not to update the BIOS first. Use a USB drive to install the latest BIOS on your motherboard.
The MAX only comes with Ryzen 3000 processors by default. Do you already have a compatible motherboard? Just update the BIOS if possible. We don’t have enough details about your current setup to determine your situation accurately. What components do you currently have? What motivated you to consider an upgrade?

I wouldn't stress over the RAM speed unless you're after it; then I'd check the X570 motherboard or wait to see what the B550 chipset offers.
