Evaluating whether adding two extra cores benefits gaming or if a 5600x resolution remains adequate and future-proof depends on your specific needs. More cores can improve multitasking and performance in demanding games, while a higher resolution offers sharper visuals but may require more power. Consider your budget, the games you play, and your system's capabilities before deciding.
The 5800X fits well in today’s gaming scene, especially for titles that make use of multiple cores. If you’re looking to run most modern AAA games at high settings with solid frame rates, or if you plan to combine a powerful CPU with a top-tier GPU like the 3080 Ti, it’s a great choice. However, if budget matters and you prioritize strong performance over sheer speed, the 5600X could be a more sensible option.
I upgraded from the Aorus Elite B450 Gigabyte to the X570 model and noticed a significant improvement in responsiveness and better CPU clock stability with my 5600X.
you won't realize you're facing a worse situation than on x570 since the 5000 series chips still offer a significant improvement if you had a 2000 series like I experienced. However, the distinction is noticeable. I noticed an average gain of 60 points in single core and 200 on multicore from the B450 and X570 aorus elite boards. I plan to sell the 2600x as a combination with the B450 board because they work well together, though I don't think they're ideal for the Ryzen 5000 series—maybe the 4-core 8-thread 5000 instead.
4600 multi-core, 587 single-threaded compared to the X570 outcome. https://valid.x86.fr/28nur7 Both using standard PBO configurations.
