B450-f compatible with AMD Ryzen 3600X
Hello everyone. Here’s the situation: I’ve purchased all my PC components except the CPU and RAM. I noticed the Ryzen 3600X runs well with the Roxio Strix B450-F gaming motherboard. I should mention it supports a 3000 series desktop build, but will it still function if it wasn’t designed for it? Or should I opt for a 2nd generation Ryzen? My current specs: ROG Strix RX5700, 32GB RAM, 3600 MHz CPU, B450-F motherboard with 850W power supply and a 1TB SSD from Corsair, housed in the Spec-06 case. Thanks for any advice!
If it functions with it, does that imply it's designed for it? The ASUS 'F' boards are built for AMD Ryzen 3000 processors, so naturally they should work. The second generation Ryzen still performs well, though the 3600X offers a significant upgrade. Just opt for a 3600X or a 3600.
I'm concerned about the output capabilities of the specs. It's not just about BIOS support; I can't run top-tier CPUs like Threadripper on a budget motherboard. That's what worries me. Since it's older than the 3rd generation Ryzen, but it has fewer cores, it shouldn't be an issue, right?
I recommend a processor stronger than the Ryzen 5 3600X for that board, though the 3600X should be fine. Your mention of Threadripper seems confusing since it uses a different socket type.
