B450 Auros Elite paired with Ryzen 5 2600
My motherboard and processor are mine. I understand the clock speed is 3.4ghz, and I recently upgraded to two 8gb DDR4 modules at 3600mhz. I'm curious whether overclocking was necessary or if it was sufficient.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
If you aim for DDR4-3600MHz, you're doing an overclock on the RAM. In my opinion, it's worth it because it unlocks the full potential of any Ryzen system. You might also consider adjusting the RAM timings in BIOS if you're comfortable doing so yourself. Be sure to use the most recent BIOS for your motherboard before attempting any overclocking, and make sure your case airflow is sufficient to dissipate the heat generated.

Just be aware that your system could not be able to start and you must be able to "refresh" the bios. If you know to do that, there is always a risk, but you would be fine.
But as

said, you should start for applying the XMP profile written in your RAM. If you don't really need to overclock your CPU, I don't see the point.
