I put Windows 11 on my Dell PC that was running Windows 10. I thought everything would work fine until I found one thing that is really important...my AZZ Card File program files I created. They worked in Windows 10. I can open the program, but I cannot open the actual files. In fact, I cannot find them at all. I can't search for them by name because they were named dates like March 12, 2020 and I don't know what those dates are. No, I didn't have a backup copy. Yes, I contacted the developer but he is not answering. Yes, I searched the drive for .azz files and found nothing. OK, so I did a test. I created an AZZ file in the program. I saved it in the default format and tried to open it. It worked! The file opened successfully. But when I try to open a sample file that came with the program named "azz.azz", I get this error message: "...azz.azz" the system can not find the file specified. I have no ideas left. So I think this means the files just didn't copy over from the update. Anyone who has been an idiot for not backing up their stuff first?

FYI: Here is a link with lots of info about .azz files. Read the whole page first before doing anything else. Also check for other similar links in AZZ. Make sure to copy a few backups now, like folders under My Documents that might have been saved as .azz files. It looks like you still have some good choices when trying to get your files back.

FYI: https://www.azzcardfile.com/faq.html#u1 Lots of information there especially about the .azz files. Read the link completely before doing anything. Look for other similar links within AZZ. Also create a couple of backups with what you have now: e.g., My Documents and other folders were the .azz files may happen to be. It appears that you have some viable options with regards to recovering your files.

I don't know how I got my AZZ info back. After reading your nice reply, I decided to put down the computer and take a break. When I came back and looked in the folders, nothing was there until an azz.bak file suddenly appeared on my desktop lol. I opened it and BOOM, that's where it is! I closed the AZZ program, saved the file as an azz file, and made another copy to put on a backup drive (one I've never backed up before). So, even though I don't know what happened, you deserve credit for this. It's all good and THANK YOU!
