Received the AX82U to swap in for my aging Netgear R7000 that kept needing restarts every couple of days. I also have an AX92U serving as an access point. While I plan to use AImesh in wired mode, I’m curious which router offers superior coverage and better performance with heavy traffic and many devices—both wired and mostly wireless (40 to 50 devices).

Read the data carefully. They should perform similarly regarding wireless coverage. With the newest firmware, handling multiple client connections should be more reliable. Interestingly, speed-wise, you might achieve faster maximum rates with WiFi-5 3x3 or 4x4 clients compared to WiFi 6 2x2 when using 80-160MHz channels. For other aspects, you’ll need to experiment yourself—after all, you’re comparing both devices directly!

It's really concerning they keep producing routers with outdated technology. It feels like misleading marketing, and it would have been better if everyone had adopted WiFi 6 on 2.4GHz sooner. The idea behind WiFi 6 is to ensure fairer use of the spectrum.
