I’ve moved the stone far enough down the road and need to address it right away. I understand I don’t have all the details, so I’m ready to collect anything that might help diagnose the problem when and where it occurs. I know I can’t access the internet without my VPN active. In the meantime, I’m planning to purchase an Ethernet cable so I can connect directly to my PC instead of relying on Wi-Fi. For now, I’m trying to figure out why this is happening and what steps I can take to resolve it. We’ve changed providers and installed a new router, which probably explains the current situation.

I’m not very familiar with networking, but I’ll try to share what I’ve learned from my own experience. At least until someone more experienced helps. What VPN should I use? Is there a way to enable a lockdown mode on the service you’re using? For example, on my Mullvad client there’s an option called Lockdown that blocks internet access if you’re not connected to any Mullvad server.

I think it was that; I don’t recall turning it on. It could have turned itself on automatically when I installed it for my new computer. I’m using NordVPN and Killswitch is active.

Activating the "killswitch" will achieve that.

Yup. The VPN functions as designed. The "kill switch" stops network access if the connection drops. It's there for protection. https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/bl...ll-switch/ https://support.nordvpn.com/General-info...t-work.htm
