Once I activate this option, the computer fails to start and the display turns off. To restore functionality, I need to take out the battery from the BIOS to reboot it again.

Great news! You addressed the issue by using XMP, but keep in mind an overclock isn't always reliable. The CPU's memory controller or the motherboard might not handle it properly, even if the RAM is capable.
