I own an older PC capable of running a few games without issues. After beginning League of Legends, I observed frequent stuttering and reviewed my FPS numbers. Although I managed decent frame rates, I experienced noticeable visual lag and significant input delays. Occasionally, even when not playing games, the cursor would lag or stutter. Now I realize that on an older machine like mine, achieving a smooth experience won’t be easy. My 1% and 0.1% low values are essentially zero.
PC specifications: HP Compaq dc5800 microtower, Intel Core2 Quad Q9550, AMD RX 550, Samsung 850 Evo 500GB SSD, 4 x Kingston 2GB 800MHz RAM = 8GB
Here is a user benchmark for my PC and specs: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/65132175
Based on this test, everything appears fine except the SSD, which is operating below expected performance. I suspect this might be due to its SATA 2 connection, which is at the maximum supported speed by my motherboard. Even then, I doubt it’s the main issue since it should still function adequately.
Is this typical? If not, can it be fixed? Any advice would be appreciated.
You anticipate a significant performance issue due to poor single-core efficiency and memory constraints.
The main 2 quad is quite old and lacks support for many modern instruction sets needed for current gaming. This forces it to rely on brute force with raw speed it simply doesn’t possess. It’s similar to running RT on a GTX card—it can handle it, but it lacks the necessary power to do so effectively.
OK, I understand that displaying zero might indicate an issue with the measurement and the age of the components. Appreciate the feedback!
